Ventura Chiropractic De-Stress Center is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people suffering from health issues through chiropractic care, massage, nutritional counseling, functional medicine and lifestyle changes.
Ventura Chiropractic De-Stress Center delivers Care that is highly specialized, unique and tailor-made for you. We DO NOT offer a one-size fits all approach. We treat individuals who suffer from one or more of the following conditions:
We treat patients with a plethora of health issues. However, we are first and foremost a chiropractic office. Dr. Algee is highly skilled in treating most of your physical pains. Dr. Algee treats normal joint pains located in the neck, back, and shoulder. He also treats elbows, knees, ankles, hands, sciatica and the jaw. He incorporates chiropractic, massage, trigger point therapy, ultrasound, strengthening exercises, balance and muscle testing as a part of standard care. Regardless of what pain you suffer from we’ll do everything in our power to make you feel more comfortable in your body.
Stress is the overwhelming sense of a loss of control over one’s environment. This has profound negative impacts upon the body, heart, breathing, mood, sleep, sex, relationships, sobriety, sanity and one’s soul. Our office incorporates stress reduction in every visit. The majority of patients are not immediately aware they suffer from stress until AFTER their first appointment. A life full of stress is not a life well-lived. Our name Ventura Chiropractic De-Stress Center implies what we offer.
Good, deep, restful sleep is paramount to one’s health. Good sleep leads to good health. Poor sleep leads to poor health. Sleep is the time when we repair. If you don’t sleep you don’t repair. Regardless of your main concern we ALWAYS strive for improving your sleep by removing pain, balancing blood sugars and reducing stress in all its forms.
Sensitivities to light, for example, can occur if your brain is tired, overloaded and is no longer restricting light coming into the pupil. If the pupils fail to constrict properly, normal lights will bother your eyes. You may find you require sunglasses due to light bothering you while others seem unaffected.
Oftentimes, headaches are the brain indicating difficulty coping with an overabundance of sensory information. For example, too much light, sound, or mental processing can fatigue the brain, causing headaches. Also, strained muscles from sitting at a desk can lead to a headache. And, joints between the skull and neck, and in the neck, can be limited in their range(s) of motion, contributing to cervicogenic headaches. While most practitioners limit focus to middle joints in the neck, Dr. Algee also treats upper and lower joints to achieve a better, more complete result for his patients by treating the actual sources of headaches—not just superficial symptomatic areas.
Concussions and head trauma have a damaging affect on an individual’s brain and life. In our office, we check every patient for past head/brain injuries regardless of the patient’s main complaint. Head trauma, even if it was ‘years ago’ and you have not received treatment for it, it has not been treated—which could potentially manifest in future years. Thur the use of chiropractic we ‘treat’ brains.
Multiple systems sync to maintain your sense of stability. Joints, muscles, inner-ear equilibrium, tonic neck reflexes, proprioceptors and the cerebellum. Dysfunction to one of these systems can cause dizziness and balance issues. There are many causes of vertigo including benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), neck dysfunction, inner-ear infections and trauma. Vertigo and/or dizziness can be debilitating. At Ventura Chiropractic De-Stress Centers we can help alleviate these conditions.
Nasal Cranial Release
Nasal cranial release is a chiropractic adjustment technique that treats pain and health problems associated with concussions and other head trauma. This technique re-establishes the flow of cerebral spinal fluid to the brain and spinal column. Pioneered by Dr. J. R. Stober in the 1930s, this nasal cranial release adjusts the skull bones by using a small finger cot affixed to an inflatable device. The device is inserted into the nasal passageways for the adjustment to be made. Dr. Algee has successfully used this adjustment technique to help patients manage pain associated with concussions and head trauma.
Chronic Pain Syndrome
Chronic pain syndrome is when pain last more than 3 to 6 months in length. Patients with chronic pain syndrome are sensitive to all forms of touch including chiropractic and massage. Chronic pain syndrome is difficult to treat. However, managing all the conditions associated with chronic pain syndrome such as poor sleep, blood sugar instabilities, inflammatory diets, arthritis, fibromyalgia, depression and anxiety can alleviate chronic pain syndrome symptoms.
Spinal Distraction is a non-surgical technique aimed at increasing spinal motion and resolving disc bulges and disc herniation. The treatment is excellent as a safe, gentle, non-force procedure and works well to take pressure off the spinal nerves that may be injured or dysfunctional.
- Reduce pressure on the spinal nerves from a disc bulge or herniation
- Increase spinal motion within the disc and spinal joints
- A conservative option to surgery for herniated discs
- Reducing symptoms of sciatica
Poor digestion can be caused by a combination of factors including the brain, diet, head trauma, poor balance, gastrointestinal infections and decreased digestive enzyme output. We apply brain, nutritional, and vagal stimulation therapies to improve digestion. If necessary, patients will perform a Gastrointestinal Panel to check the quality and quantity of healthy intestinal bacteria. Contingent to the outcome of the panel, specific nutritional therapies will be applied to correct any imbalance.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common disorder that affects the large intestine. Signs and symptoms include cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation or both. Irritable bowel syndrome is a chronic condition that we’ll need to manage long term. A over missed competent of irritable bowel syndrome is the neurological part. The interaction between the brain and bowels cannot be overstated. A combination of dietary change and/or neurological stimulation is necessary to calm down the colon and reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.
Tight or Loose Pelvic Floor Muscles
The symptoms of a weakened pelvic floor include:
- Accidentally leaking urine when you exercise, laugh, cough or sneeze
- Accidentally losing control of your bladder or bowel
- Pain in your pelvic area, or painful sex
- Urinary frequency, urgency, hesitancy, painful urination
- Constipation, straining, pain during or after bowel movements
- Unexplained pain in your low back, pelvic region, hips, genital area, or rectum
- Uncoordinated muscle contractions causing the pelvic floor muscles to spasm
Depression can be caused by anemia, fatigue, poor nutrition, genetics, head injury, trauma, chronic stress, poor diet, chronic childhood stress, bad relationships, a sedentary lifestyle or low neurotransmitter output. Emotional work is not our specialty, however, the physical body is. If necessary, we will run in-depth blood and salivary tests that determine the underlying cause of your dysfunction and/or dietary recommendations to remove low-grade chronic inflammation which can disrupt neurotransmitter output. Food allergies, chemical sensitivities, adrenal circadian rhythm dysfunction, abnormal blood sugar homeostasis, structural problems such as TMJ dysfunction, upper cervical improper articulation, or chronic unremitting pain all affect brain function and a person’s mood.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic fatigue syndrome can be caused by a variety of things. These can include: genetics, metabolic issues, improper diet, food sensitivities, viral/bacterial infections, and head injury. Our examination can help identify the root cause and determine the best course of action for restoring your physical and mental energy levels. When the body cannot make energy properly and easily, it makes energy through a pathway called the lactic acid pathway. As the name implies, what is being given off is an excess of lactic acid. Lactic acid causes muscles to ache, the joints to hurt, and one’s mood to be low.
While We DO NOT treat the emotional or memory components of PTSD—that is the work of others –we DO help the frontal lobe activate to inhibit the limbic system and its negative emotional response to current environmental stimuli that trigger past traumatic memories. A simple overview of how our brains work: movement stimulates the parietal lobes—which sends signals into the frontal lobe for planning and execution of movement. When the frontal lobe is stimulated, it suppresses limbic system activity. Injured muscles, tendons, or joints cannot send full movement signals into the parietal lobe—which, in turn, cannot stimulate the frontal lobe and therefore, cannot suppress limbic system activity.
Car Accidents/Personal Injury
If you’ve suffered from a car accident, or fall, you’ll need a chiropractor who specializes in your well-being. You need a doctor who understands the relationship between high-speed physical impact injuries, head trauma, concussions, physical pain, upper neck tension, headaches, visual disturbances, sleep difficulties, and mental wellness in one collective person called you. Rest assured we are the office to deal with the complexities of your injuries.

How Many Visits do I need?
Firstly, chiropractic treatments must be evaluated on a case by case basis. That being said, number of visits can range from as few as 2-10 over the course of 1 month for simpler cases, to as many as 40-50 treatments over the course of 4-6 months for the most extreme cases. Generally, Dr. Algee prefers 1 session of treatment for every three months of suffering. The benefits of chiropractic care are cumulative and, therefore, if you have suffered from a problem for 10 years, and are expecting to get well in one visit, we will not live up to your expectations. You, and the doctor, will know after your first visit if our office can help.
Why Should I Trust my care with Ventura Chiropractic De-Stress Center?
We’re going to let Dr. Mark Algee respond to that question. “Hello, the simple answer is my treatments will get you out of pain, reduce your stress levels, improve your balance, improve your mental clarity, strength, muscle coordination and make you ’emotionally feel’ better.
