At Ventura Chiropractic De-Stress Center we treat people, not their problems. Some patients have conditions that go beyond normal care.
In today’s hectic world, patients can’t seem to get good, compassionate, care at an affordable rate. Doctors are in a rush, spend 2-4 minutes with a patient, hospitals need to be profitable, beds need to be filled, and patients are on a treadmill. That’s not how we run our practice. We are members of the community, and as such, will do what it takes, within our power, to get you well.
If simple recommendations don’t solve your underlying problems, then if necessary, we’ll perform in-depth blood panels, & other cutting-edge diagnostic testing, for patients in need of advanced health care protocols. This service is for both maintaining and/or correcting one’s health. If you have been chronically sick for more than 6 months this service is for you. We treat people who sufferer from the following conditions:
Sensitivities to Lights, Sounds, Smells or Touch
Sensitivities to any stimuli, that causes a person to feel uncomfortable, in anyway, can occur for a variety of reasons: specifically if your brain is tired or unable to limit information. Believe it or not, one of the jobs of our brain is to limit excessive information from making it thru to conscious levels. Non important information is filtered out. Too much information can overload our brains causing a host of mental, social, and cognitive problems. We improve brain function to limit sensory overload.
Concussions and head trauma have a damaging affect on an individual’s brain and life. In our office, we check every patient for past head/brain injuries regardless of the patient’s main complaint. Head trauma, even if it was ‘years ago’ and you have not received treatment for it, it has not been treated—which could potentially manifest in future years. Thur the use of chiropractic we ‘treat’ brains. We also perform nasal cranial release technique. Nasal cranial release is a chiropractic adjustment technique that treats pain and health problems associated with concussions and other head trauma. This technique re-establishes the flow of cerebral spinal fluid to the brain and spinal column. Pioneered by Dr. J. R. Stober in the 1930s, this nasal cranial release adjusts the skull bones by using a small finger cot affixed to an inflatable device. The device is inserted into the nasal passageways for the adjustment to be made. Dr. Algee has successfully used this adjustment technique to help patients manage pain associated with concussions and head trauma.
Depression can be caused by anemia, fatigue, poor nutrition, genetics, head injury, trauma, chronic stress, poor diet, a sedentary lifestyle or low neurotransmitter output. Emotional work is not our specialty, however, the physical body is. If necessary, we will run in-depth blood tests that determine the underlying cause of your dysfunction and/or dietary recommendations to remove low-grade chronic inflammation which can disrupt neurotransmitter output. Food allergies, chemical sensitivities, adrenal circadian rhythm dysfunction, abnormal blood sugar homeostasis, structural problems such as TMJ dysfunction, upper cervical improper articulation, or chronic unremitting pain all affect brain function and a person’s mood.
As the eminent psychologist Aaron Beck put it: “The cost of survival of the lineage may be a lifetime of discomfort.” Survival of our species may have favored genes within us that make us jumpy. So genetics is one of the causes of anxiety/panic attacks. However, other causes are maladapted patterns of behavior, balance mechanism that down work properly, and high stress. We don’t work on genes, but we DO work on balance mechanisms and stress. Our office can help reduce the severity of your attacks and calm your system down.
Multiple systems sync to maintain your sense of stability. Joints, muscles, inner-ear equilibrium, tonic neck reflexes, proprioceptors and the cerebellum. Dysfunction to one of these systems can cause dizziness and balance issues. There are many causes of vertigo including benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), neck dysfunction, inner-ear infections and trauma. Vertigo and/or dizziness can be debilitating. We can help alleviate these conditions.
Poor digestion can be caused by a combination of factors including the brain, diet, head trauma, poor balance, gastrointestinal infections and decreased digestive enzyme output. We apply brain, nutritional, and vagal stimulation therapies to improve digestion. If necessary, patients will perform a Gastrointestinal Panel to check the quality and quantity of healthy intestinal bacteria. Contingent to the outcome of the panel, specific nutritional therapies will be applied to correct any imbalance.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common disorder that affects the large intestine. Signs and symptoms include cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation or both. Irritable bowel syndrome is a chronic condition that we’ll need to manage long term. A over missed competent of irritable bowel syndrome is the neurological part. The interaction between the brain and bowels cannot be overstated. A combination of dietary change and/or neurological stimulation is necessary to calm down the colon and reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.
Chronic Pain Syndrome
Chronic pain syndrome is when pain last more than 3 to 6 months in length. Patients with chronic pain syndrome are sensitive to all forms of touch including chiropractic and massage. Chronic pain syndrome is difficult to treat. However, managing all the conditions associated with chronic pain syndrome such as poor sleep, blood sugar instabilities, inflammatory diets, arthritis, fibromyalgia, depression and anxiety can alleviate chronic pain syndrome symptoms.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic fatigue syndrome can be caused by a variety of things. These can include: genetics, metabolic issues, improper diet, food sensitivities, viral/bacterial infections, and head injury. Our examination can help identify the root cause and determine the best course of action for restoring your physical and mental energy levels. When the body cannot make energy properly and easily, it makes energy through a pathway called the lactic acid pathway. As the name implies, what is being given off is an excess of lactic acid. Lactic acid causes muscles to ache, the joints to hurt, and one’s mood to be low.
Tight or Loose Pelvic Floor Muscles
Weak pelvic floor muscles happen after giving birth to a child. In some patients these muscles can become too tight. The symptoms of a pelvic floor muscle dysfunction include accidentally leaking urine when you exercise, laugh, cough or sneeze. Pain in your pelvic area while engaging in sexual activity. Urinary frequency, urgency, hesitancy, or painful urination with no signs of a bladder or UTI infection. Unexplained pain in your low back, pelvic region, hips, genital area, or rectum. Or uncoordinated muscle contractions causing the pelvic floor muscles to spasm. If you have any of these symptoms we can help.
